Cassa di Risparmio di Biella e Vercelli - BIVERBANCA is a dynamic and modern credit institution, deeply attached to its core region, whose growth aspirations it was able to promote over the years by providing financial support to the local community.
As a result of the merger between Banca Commerciale Italiana and Banca Intesa (on May 1, 2001), Biverbanca became a member of the new IntesaBci Group. The IntesaBci Group changed its name to Intesa Group as from 1st January 2003. Effective from 1 January 2007, following the merger by incorporation of Sanpaolo IMI Spa into Banca Intesa Spa, Biverbanca became part of the newly-created "Intesa Sanpaolo Spa" Banking Group.
The activities of BIVERBANCA, an acronym for Cassa di Risparmio di Biella e Vercelli, are historically focused on Piedmont, in the area marked by the boundaries of the two provinces of Biella and Vercelli, which are both highly industrious and, though dissimilar for historical reasons, complementing each other in several ways.
On the one hand, we find the Biella industrial district, created in 1997 and characterised by its tradition in wool textiles. Almost half the products manufactured in Biella, which boasts companies and brands greatly enhancing the quality and success of Italian fashion, are exported to neighbouring European countries and, to a lesser degree, to the Far East and the Americas.
On the other, there is the Vercelli county, exhibiting other important economic features: the Valsesia mountains, with their priceless tourist resorts; textile and engineering (valve-making) factories in the district's southern part; more and more local firms engaging in the service sector; extensive rice farming, making it the leading producer in Europe.
